I'm dedicated to creating a therapeutic space where your unique story is honored and respected. Each client's journey is personal, and I tailor my approach to meet individual needs and experiences. In my practice, I combine compassion with evidence-based techniques to address a wide range of psychological, emotional, and behavioral challenges. My focus is always on empathy and understanding, creating an environment where you feel heard and supported. I have a particular passion for supporting young adults navigating the transitions of emerging adulthood. Recognizing the difficulty many face in finding the right therapeutic connection, I strive to bridge that gap, fostering relationships that empower clients to discover their inner resilience and strength. A significant area of my specialization is counseling individuals managing chronic illness. I understand the profound impact that ongoing medical challenges can have on mental health and overall well-being. In our sessions, you'll have a safe space to discuss your experiences, including frustrations with medical gaslighting or the need to vent about day-to-day challenges. I see each person as a whole individual, not just a diagnosis. Together, we'll navigate the complexities of chronic illness while honoring all aspects of your identity and life experiences. My treatment philosophy is collaborative, emphasizing resilience and personal growth. I firmly believe in the strength of the human spirit and its capacity to overcome adversity. Whether we're meeting virtually (where you might catch a glimpse of my cat, Mulan, in the background!) or in person, I'm here to support you on your journey towards better mental health and well-being. I aim to work with you to uncover your inner resources, develop coping strategies, and build a life that aligns with your values and aspirations, regardless of the challenges you may face. P.S. That's a great question! While friends and loved ones can be wonderful sources of support, they are limited in their ability to provide a completely unbiased perspective. Due to the nature of these relationships, space is also inherently shared and you may not always feel fully heard or understood. In the therapy space, I encourage my clients to take up all of the space, I make sure they know that I am there unconditionally for them, and that they are my top priority and focus.
The best part of the work for me is seeing my clients grow and heal throughout their journey, and be able to reflect on and internalize their progress. Seeing that look on their faces when they realize how far they've come, and hearing my clients say they are proud of themselves, is the most beautiful and fulfilling experience.
I am highly participatory in sessions, and am fully engaged with every client throughout the length of each session. Some of my clients prefer for me to guide the session, and some prefer to take the more active role. I fully respect whatever someone's preference is and adjust accordingly.
I truly believe that each individual has an incredible amount of strength and wisdom inside of them. We don't always have the resources to access that strength, and I believe that therapy can be a place to do so. Everyone is capable of growth and fulfillment with the right support, and I approach my work with the foundational value of unconditional positive regard.
