Does it seem impossible for you to overcome challenges in one or more areas of life? You weren’t meant to navigate your relationships and mental health challenges alone. Working from trauma-informed and psychodynamic approaches, I help clients to develop a framework and skill set critical to overcoming life's challenges. The majority of my treatment techniques come from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I specialize in working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, and trauma. In addition to relationship and mental health challenges, I’d also love to work with you on issues related to school, work, faith, and spirituality. I believe that a “one-size-fits-all” approach hinders the growth process, so while working with me you’ll engage in a flexible treatment process that honors your experiences and preferences. I am an alumna of Bard College and of The University at Albany School of Social Welfare. In my free time, I can often be found listening to a podcast, exploring a beach or trail, or planning an interior design project.

What is unique about the work you do, or how have you found your work to be different than your colleagues'?

Talking about your challenges is just a starting point. We've got to do something about them! Due to this, my work is unique in that it continuously invites clients to apply their developing skill sets during and outside of session.

If I have never been to therapy before, what should I expect? How do I know if I should go, and how do I start?

Therapy sessions with me typically include moments of laughter, insight (you may experience “Aha!” moments), psychoeducation, and heartfelt discussions.

From your perspective, what is therapy?

Therapy is an invitation for clients to gain critical skills and personalized guidance for breakthroughs.

Are there any philosophies or values that inform your work that I should know about?

I work from psychodynamic- and trauma-informed approaches, meaning that I take into account the significant contributions that trauma and early relationships can make to challenges you face. While early relationships and trauma don’t define you, understanding both can help us to create a roadmap for your healing and growth.

How long should I commit to being in therapy, at least in the beginning?

There is no one-size fits all approach to therapy. At the start I encourage clients to come to weekly therapy and as time goes on, you and I will regularly check-in with how you feel you are progressing. This process is collaborative and together we will determine what best meets your need.

What are your policies and practices around insurance?

While we are not in-network with insurance we will provide you with superbills for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. It is also important to us that therapy is affordable so we have an honor system-based sliding scale down to $100.
