How will our relationship be different than relationships I have with friends/loved ones?

As your therapist, I share the goal of supporting you and guiding you towards personal growth, I provide an unbiased perspective on the issues you bring to our sessions. Unlike friendships or familial relationships, the therapeutic space is uniquely yours; it is a dedicated environment where you can be fully heard and understood without the influence of shared experiences or emotional ties. This allows for a focused exploration of your thoughts and feelings, fostering a deeper understanding of yourself and your journey.

How participatory are you during sessions?

I believe that therapist participation in sessions is necessary for clients to feel comfortable and at ease. I'm here to support and ensure that you feel seen and heard, which sometimes means reflecting and reframing what you share to allow for perspective and growth to occur. While silence can be uncomfortable in sessions, it's also a really valuable tool that allows clients to push themselves and bring what they want and/or need to face to the session.

From your perspective, what is therapy?

Therapy is an incredible space that allows for clients to have an unbiased and nonjudgmental perspective. It's a time where clients can expect to be supported and challenged so they can achieve their goals, meet their needs, and have lasting and sustainable change. Therapy isn't always easy or comfortable, but most often, those are the times you know something really great is happening and progress is being made!
